http://arabcrunch.com/2011/05/achtart-e-shopping-site-for-arts-and-crafts-from-arab-and-lebanese-artists-and-craftsmen.html

achtART is an E-Commerce site for Arts and Crafts says it aims at helping regional and Lebanese artists and crafts-people showcase their artistic creations through an online platform and offer those creations for sale.

The site showcase artists products according to the category they belong to: paintings, home/ office accessories, design jewelry, wooden structures, not for profit, furnitures and fashion accessories.

Like any other e-commerce site achtART allows you to view items with their price add them to shopping cart and buy them at checkout. The website also features some of its artists.

The site has a nice concept but since it is about art, I think it should improve its design and UI.

Sandra Sahyoun: Painter and Furniture Designer

Born in 1978, Sandra Kheir Sahyoun graduated in interior design with a specialization in furniture design from ALBA (Academie Libanaise des Beaux Arts) where she currently teaches interior design. She held many solo exhibitions in Lebanon (Robert Mouawad Private Museum, State of Art Gallery), in Vienna ("Rathaus" Municipality of Vienna, Raiffeizen Central Bank, Parliament of Vienna , Kunstraum Gallery,...), in Paris (Office du Tourisme Libanais) and participated in several collective exhibitions.

Sandra cannot be restricted to a single art school. She wanders freely between them to such an extent that she finds no boundaries between abstract and reality in her acrylics, oils or watercolors. She finds her inspiration from raw material in her daily life, the media broth and hundreds of photographs throughout her travels. Transparency alternates between the figure and the background and we can see through the space opening between silhouettes, graphic symbols, abstract or geometrical shapes, another layer of reality... Her designs are the fruit of a permanent dialogue between oriental traditions and purity of lines. Having at her disposal a large variety of wooden essences, Sandra Kheir Sahyoun, re-worked the "marquetrie" in a way to change it from a simple two-dimensional veneer to a real three-dimensional structural process of assembling wood as if skin turned out to be the skeleton at the same time.

Sandra is proudly a part of achtART.com's artists. You can find her page here: www.achtart.com/sandra-sahyoun

Mizalla.com: Meet Achtart, Lebanese Arts Sold Online!

Posted by Pascale M. under News in http://www.mizalla.com

We’ve just discovered Achtart.com, an e-commerce shop that helps regional and Lebanese artists promote and sell their creations online. The website was launched beginning May 2011 with a collection of handmade jewelry, crafts, and paintings.

According to Achtart’s owner, the need for such a portal became apparent when her friend, a jewelry designer, found it hard to sell her hand-made ornaments. This soon sparked the idea of a platform that allows artists to showcase their work and sell it.

The owner co-runs a family business and has decided to give more time to this artistic venture. She described how the initiative will help sustain communities and revive rare arts by allowing craftspeople to market their handiworks internationally. Right now, Achtart is online with a limited choice of artifacts. However, it intends on becoming a broader platform and a hub for online arts and crafts in the Middle East.

You can take a look at Achtart here, follow them on Twitter and like their Facebook Page.
