Born in 1978, Sandra Kheir Sahyoun graduated in interior design with a specialization in furniture design from ALBA (Academie Libanaise des Beaux Arts) where she currently teaches interior design. She held many solo exhibitions in Lebanon (Robert Mouawad Private Museum, State of Art Gallery), in Vienna ("Rathaus" Municipality of Vienna, Raiffeizen Central Bank, Parliament of Vienna , Kunstraum Gallery,...), in Paris (Office du Tourisme Libanais) and participated in several collective exhibitions.
Sandra cannot be restricted to a single art school. She wanders freely between them to such an extent that she finds no boundaries between abstract and reality in her acrylics, oils or watercolors. She finds her inspiration from raw material in her daily life, the media broth and hundreds of photographs throughout her travels. Transparency alternates between the figure and the background and we can see through the space opening between silhouettes, graphic symbols, abstract or geometrical shapes, another layer of reality... Her designs are the fruit of a permanent dialogue between oriental traditions and purity of lines. Having at her disposal a large variety of wooden essences, Sandra Kheir Sahyoun, re-worked the "marquetrie" in a way to change it from a simple two-dimensional veneer to a real three-dimensional structural process of assembling wood as if skin turned out to be the skeleton at the same time.

Are those park benches? Truly remarkable form, but I have to question its function. How many people can sit on that?
